About Donna

This blog is about the restoration of our 1969 Mustang Coupe, Donna. We intend to do a complete RestoMod for her.

Acquired by us on February 24, 2018, Donna began life at the San Jose, CA, Ford factory on October 30, 1968 (her original due date was the 28th, so she was two days late.) The Ford factory was actually located in Milpitas, CA and is now The Great Mall.

She was delivered to Pacific Auto Sales at 3600 Cherry Avenue, in Long Beach, CA. In 1985, the Caruso family acquired what was then Pacific Ford. Then in 2012, Pacific Ford adopted the new name, Caruso Ford. I have been unable to find any photos of Pacific Ford from that time period.

She was (and still is) Wimbledon White with a Black Vinyl Interior (standard bucket seats), a 210HP 302ci 2-Valve V8, and a C4 automatic transmission turning a 2.79 rear end. She is sequential number 115666.

Donna was 4 inches longer than her 67/68 predecessors, yet she retained the 108″ wheelbase of the original 64½’s. Her siblings could have had any of two 6-cylinder engines (200 or 250 ci) or four 8-cylinder engines (302, 351, 390 or 429 ci.) Other new features Donna has include quad headlights, front parking lights located behind the front valance panel, new quarter panel ornaments, front seat back locks, and for the first time, a VIN number attached to the instrument panel, and visible through the windshield.

There were 299,824 Mustangs produced in 1969. 118,613 were base hardtops like Donna. 3,132 had the same paint and trim codes (though 11,872 were Wimbledon White), 74,458 had the same engine and transmission, and 40,150 had air conditioning.

Donna had a sticker price of $3,752.95. You can see the additional items she came with from the window sticker replica we got from Marti Auto Works:
